Adults (18 onwards) Make Scouting Possible.

Adults are vital to the running of the Group, roles from Uniformed leaders and assistant leaders running individual sections to non uniformed occasional helpers.

Section leaders and assistant leaders dedicate one evening a week in term time and 2-3 weekends a year to devising and running a programme for their sections. They are supported by parent helpers and by senior leaders in the group with specific technical or scouting skills. Sometimes this is leading a particular activity or event once a term, or once a year, or attending a camp.
All adults are legally cleared (DBS checked) to work with young people, covered by insurance and all Leaders attend regular first aid courses.  All have access to a wide range of management and skills training through the Scout Association at district county and national levels.

The range of activities and the number of young people we can help is only limited by the number and skills of our adult helpers and we always need more. Former leaders from other groups, people with outdoor skills and qualifications or who enjoy working with young people should consider trying out a role in Scouting.
Former members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces are particularly welcome.
